The Guaranteed Analysis label can be misleading. It is supposed to be an easy way for pet parents to see moisture, protein, fat, carbohydrates and fiber content. However, when comparing a wet food to a dry the different moisture levels makes it seem like dry food has much more protein while that may not be that case.
Based on the guaranteed analysis, the average dry food looks like it has more protein than Freshpet and the average canned food.
Converting the Guaranteed Analysis values into dry matter basis gives the pet parent a comparison. According to dry matter basis, Freshpet has more protein than the average wet food and dry food.
